Start Learning Today: Two Free BOOST-IN Online Courses on Circular Water Management are now open.

The Sanitary Engineering Laboratory of the National Technical University of
Athens (NTUA) is pleased to announce the availability of two free Massive
Open Online Courses (MOOCs), developed within the framework of the
Horizon Europe BOOST-IN project and hosted on the University of Bologna
BOOK – Unibo Open Knowledge platform.
The courses aim to strengthen knowledge and practical skills in circular water
management, innovative water reuse solutions and risk assessment, contributing to
the transition towards more sustainable and resilient water systems.
Designed for students, researchers, engineers, young water professionals,
policymakers and other interested stakeholders, the MOOCs combine video lectures,
reading materials, real-world case studies and interactive quizzes.

MOOC 1: Towards a Circular Water Future
The MOOC 1 introduces the principles of the circular water economy, exploring
the transition from conventional water management towards more sustainable and
resource-efficient approaches.
Through six thematic modules, participants explore:
Circular water economy principles and water reuse applications.
Innovative technologies and real-world solutions.
Business models supporting circular water management.
European regulations, policy frameworks and implementation barriers.
Public trust, communication and stakeholder engagement.

MOOC 2: Managing Risk in Circular Water System
The MOOC 2 focuses on the safe and sustainable implementation of circular
water systems, introducing key concepts and practical tools for identifying,
assessing, managing and communicating risks associated with water reuse.
The course covers:
Risk identification and assessment in circular water systems.
Risk assessment tools, safety plans and likelihood–impact matrices.
Practical examples and innovative solutions developed within BOOST-IN.
Risk monitoring, critical control points and management strategies.
Risk perception, public trust and stakeholder communication.
Through its contribution, SEL NTUA brings expertise in wastewater treatment, water reuse
technologies and environmental risk assessment, supporting the development of
practical knowledge for safe circular water applications.
