CARDIMED’s 7th Consortium Meeting in Marseille: Ready for the final sprint

Almost 150 persons attended the 7th CARDIMED Consortium Meeting, which was held in Marseille. Interested public authorities, metropolitan areas, hubs and SMEs joined the 50+ project partners for three days of coordination, discussion and collective work on the next phase of CARDIMED.
For the Sanitary Engineering Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens (SEL–NTUA), as the Project Coordinator, the meeting was an important opportunity to align with involved members to ensure that the wide range of the project’s activities continue moving forward in a coordinated way.

Updates from the Work Packages, Demonstration Sites and Replicator Regions offered a clearer picture of how CARDIMED’s Nature-based Solutions are being developed and adapted across different Mediterranean contexts. The participation of public authorities and local representatives brought essential practical perspectives into the discussions, highlighting the distinct needs and challenges of each territory.
On 16 October, CARDIMED welcomed local and regional stakeholders to the Hôtel de Région through two parallel sessions:
The Public Sector & Business Session, connecting Nature-based Solutions with territorial needs, professional expertise and market opportunities.
The Research Session, supporting scientific dialogue, knowledge exchange and new opportunities for collaboration.
Opportunities for meaningful engagement, such as the National Adaptation Hubs, French and Greek NbS Hub and the Mediterranean Resilience Alliance also shared the stage. Don’t hesitate to reach out and join those initiatives!

During “Come pitch your NbS!”, participants presented projects, solutions and services related to climate adaptation, creating new connections among CARDIMED partners, public authorities, businesses, consultancies, regional clusters and NbS networks.
Coordinating a consortium of this scale requires continuous communication, trust and a strong shared commitment. We would therefore like to thank all CARDIMED partners for their active participation and valuable contributions throughout the meeting.
We also need to thank the representatives of the Metropole Nice Côte d'Azur and Aix Marseille Metropole for joining the CARDIMED consortium and sharing their views.
We are also very proud that representatives of the Municipality of Nablus (Palestine) and Tunisia’s Ministry of Equipment and Housing joined the discussions. Even though they are not direct beneficiaries of CARDIMED, their input is invaluable!
A special thank you to our partners Région Sud, SEMIDE, Aix-Marseille Université, and EMPAN, for a terrific organisation, connecting CARDIMED with the regional community and welcoming us so warmly to Marseille. The city provided an inspiring setting for meaningful exchanges, new connections and renewed momentum for the work ahead.
